There is no jealousy or competitive fervor between the groups. Each expresses admiration for the other's work.

I worked for a hotel chain for sixteen years and they never purchased bibles.


The Gideon Society sucks donations from millions of xtians to provide free bibles around the world.


What a ******* waste of money that could have been used for medical research or to feed the poor.
There is no force telling you to read it. So, how is that relevant.But if you choose in the privacy of your motel to read it and believe it you can become free from sickness, disease, poverty, fear and anxiety.OR you can close the drawer and go on unchanged. Simple, isn't it.
When I go to a hotel and see a bible on the table i put it in the drawer. I opened it once to find a handwritten web address on the inside cover. Its in the sources section down there...
A group called Gidieon's International, places them in the room free of charge. The also provide Bibles to hospitals, prisons, and to members of our military.
Because the management of hotels that do this believe many, if not most, of their customers will appreciate finding them there and those customers who do not appreciate them will not refuse to patronize the hotel because of that practice.
There has been Bibles in hotel rooms for at least 75 years.


I always thought it was for lonely businessmen away from the family. The Bible brings comfort. People who study the Bible know there is comfort found in the Bible.
Not only bibles in hotel rooms there are other religions book in hotel rooms as well.

Those aren't really bibles, those are the Gideons books, I think they went around at one point and put them all sorts of places.
I have been to one hotel without a bible, I don't think they buy them I think the...um..is it giddeon people? I think they donate them.
To try to ensure that the hookers and their johns only do it in the missionary position. Gotta minimize that sinning LOL xD
