When going on vacation should a person's hotel room be ON the beach or 10 or so miles from the beach?

Depends on what you can afford and where you come from (ie: your feeling about water)

If you can afford it, and you are from inland, you might want to get as close to the beach as possible. The sound of the water is very relaxing and the change of scenery does wonders for your peace of mind. Unless of course bad weather is expected, then you have a front row seat for the impending disaster.

If you don't have a lot of money, suggestion is to stay a good distance away to save money. You can visit there for a day and do lots more in town to break up your daily routine. The idea of a vacation is to change up your usual rut to get you to relax and do different things for a change. So go do them! When going on vacation should a person's hotel room be ON the beach or 10 or so miles from the beach?
A place on the beach is going to be much more expensive, so if cost is a factor, staying farther away will save some cash. When going on vacation should a person's hotel room be ON the beach or 10 or so miles from the beach?
I prefer to be on the beach, but the further away the cheaper the cost.
If you can afford it, right on the beach! Cheaper the farther away you get from the beach, though. Are you worried about tsunamis, or hurricanes? I'm not making fun of you. I figure the tsunami thing is a crap shoot...and if they warn of one coming, get to high ground immediately. Hurricanes, you'll know about way before they hit. So I'd go for a beach front place if you can.
