went spain for holiday last week, i was a bit bored, so locked the door and left the key in, and thought i was safe, so decided to give myself a w*nk on the bed, a knock came on the door and it was the maid, so thought i was safe with the key being in the door and locked, next minute she put the key in and the door swung open lol, i could of died on the spot, i didnt know what do so just said can you leave it this time,

They should! and I thought they were. Now that I read what you said, though, I think maids do have the keys, unfortunately, to get inside. I left my hotel room, once, to go eat breakfast, and when I came back everything was straighten and clean.
