When i go out, should i bring my passport or keep in the safety box in my hotel room?

Safety boxes in paris are safety? When i go out, should i bring my passport or keep in the safety box in my hotel room?
Neither. Some hotels are NOT insured for the safe in your room and believe me, most are easy to open once you know the tricks to them.

You should always keep your passport in the hotel's main safe, then it should be insured should anything happen to it.

There are some areas of Paris with a lot of pickpockets, so only take important documents out when you really have to.

Have a nice trip over there, Paris can be so beautiful! When i go out, should i bring my passport or keep in the safety box in my hotel room?
Technically, you are supposed to keep it with you as it is the only form of ID that is universal - many countries will not accept anything else.

That being said, Paris and other tourist cities will allow you to forego that formality.

Keep in mind what the previous posters mentioned about room safes - they are not as safe as you would think they are.

BTW - the practice of photocopying your passport originated years ago to help facilitate replacing your passport at the consulate office should you lose it - it was to be kept with your luggage or other important papers while you kept the original on you. The practice has degraded to keeping the photocopy on you and leaving the original in the safe. The practice could cause you problems as I found out last year in Serbia.
Put it in the hotel safe if they have one, but keep a photocopy of it with you at all time. In France it is mandatory to always have an identity paper with you. We have our ID cards for that, keep a copy of your passport. Besides, if anything happen to you (run over by a car, choking on a croissant...) better to have your ID at hand. Keep as well a paper giving the name and phone number of who to call in case of accident and your blood type. The minimum needed just in case. Better safe than sorry.
I have been all over the world and i am only 13.

From my experience and what i have been told.

KEEP IT IN THE BOX.

Believe me, foran countries are poor they will take anyway.

Even a shoe (:

Also my mum just came back from paris.

She loved it.

She said there are ALOT of people

She kept everything in the safty box
I say keep it on you at all times. But then again you said that you are traveling to France and if you are going to Cap d'Agde you don't really have any pockets to put it.
If you know you would not need your passport, it's safer to put in the safe in the hotel room. Just remember your own code no. and take it out right before you check out.
I always leave important items in a safe, but you can try putting it behind a painting in your room, noone looks there....
Anything that is important, but not needed while in the country, goes into the safe.
saftey box someone could ickpocket you otherwise
As long as you have another form of ID like driver license keep your passport in the safe.
Yes keep it in the safety box. It will be much safer there than out in Paris, with all the gypsies...
safty box is a perfect choice
