You and your mother should check out the hotels now . When you find one that suits your purpose. Have your mother reserve a room for you now. I know they will do this with a credit card

When my son stayed in a Hilton Hotel at 17 I had to sign papers saying I would pay for any damage he did as well as give them my credit card. Your parent would have to call the hotels and see what their policy is.
WHY would your parents send you to NY Alone. Not a good idea. Sorry I am against it.

I think people are telling you good luck, etc. because it is not safe for a young person alone in New York. I can only hope that you have relatives there or something like that.





As far as places to stay, a youth hostel would be my first recommendation. I have put a couple of contacts for hostels in NYC. Each one has different rules about what kind of I.D. they require, how old (or young) you can be, etc.





The YMCA might also be an option, but I'd try to do a hostel. Then you will be with other young people who are traveling - so you won't really be alone when you get there. I also hostels are much more concerned with safely and security.





Please take care of yourself and maybe think twice about doing this all by yourself. If you decide to go ahead with it, make sure your Mom has talked to the Hostel owner and feels comfortable, etc.

You don't say if this is a class trip, or why your mother's not going, but the easiest way for you to get the room is to book it online using any of the more reliable services, or you can search for a hotel by name. Your mother will have to authorize the use, and she should get hold of the card issuer and authorize you to use the card. You'll need it and another form of ID when you check in. They will have you sign, so your mother has to authorize you with the issuer. Have a safe trip and thank your mother profusely.
