I'm planning a trip to San fancisco with my friends but we are all under 21 (I'm 20) I was wondering if we would be old enough go get a hotel room there or if we have to be 21.
thanks! How old to rent a hotel room?
I have four boys and it is 21 years old unless you are married.
If you present yourself right and tell them why you are there like you are checking out The University and you not going to be partying because see you not old enough to get into bars...That may work....How old to rent a hotel room?
I believe it is 18. Some hotels need a credit card, even if you are going to be paying cash.
I could at 18 but needed a credit card, if your renting acar though you do need to be 21.
Book a hotel that explicitly posts a minimum check-in age of 18 on their website. Or if you give them a call, ask them to e-mail a confirmation with the check-in infomation clearly stated.
Print a copy of that page and bring it with you to San Francisco. If the front desk starts giving you trouble, produce your printout. Remember to remain calm. As long as you have proof you were offered a room reservation under those specific conditions, you have the upper hand. Legally, they're at fault if they throw out your reservation in violation of their own policies (false advertising).
Generally speaking, the less luxurious a hotel is, the more welcoming of younger guests they are. So, don't aim for five star establishments like the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons. Each location is different... but a basic Hilton, Holiday Inn, or Courtyard by Marriott might work.
A lot of hotels require you to be 21. Call individual hotels for information. You might look at hostels instead.
